InfoFest 2017 - 4 May 2017

CILIP in Kent and the University of Kent are delighted to invite you to the InfoFest Kent event taking place at the University of Kent on Thursday 4 May 2017. 

This free event will focus on some of the challenges and opportunities faced by information professionals in the digital age.  There will be a particular focus on digital literacy and combating fake news with keynote sessions from Emma Johansson and Dr Fragkiskos Filippaios. The day will finish with an expert panel Q&A session on information literacy and fake news.  

There will be three breakout sessions to choose from. The first is on information literacy in schools and the transition to higher education. The second will look at the information literacy framework and the last session will look at how freely available accessibility tools can be used to aid productivity. Please find below the outline for the day: 


Registration for the day will open from 09.30- 10.00 in the Colyer-Fergusson Foyer where refreshments will be provided. 

After registration there will be a welcome talk, and a plenary session called “Fact checking Trump” by Swedish school librarian Emma Johansson.  Emma will discuss her experience of looking after Sweden’s national twitter account when Donald Trump referred to a non-existent security incident in Sweden.  She will also provide some insights into her role as a school librarian in Sweden.

The conference will then split into three different Breakout Session from 11.30- 12.30, please find the sessions listed below and select your preferred session.

After the Breakout Sessions, lunch will be provided from 12.00-13.30 in the Colyer-Fergusson Foyer.

From 13.30-14.30, there will be a talk from Dr Fragkiskos Filippaios from Kent Business School on  “Your Digital Footprint and Managing an Appropriate Online Identity” in the Templeman Library Lecture Theatre. There will then be a short break before the last plenary session of the day which is an ‘Expert panel from 15.00-16.00. The panel, comprising local information professionals from Schools, NHS and university as well as our keynote speaker will take questions and discuss the main topics from the day.
